Winter Solstice 2018, the shortest day and longest night of the year celebrated

Today, states  that  the Southern Hemisphere is pointing towards the sun to catch more rays. Whereas, the Northern Hemisphere is pointed away from the sun to catch less radiation.

Occurance : Solstice occurs when one of the earth’s pole is tilten far away from the sun.

Winter Solstice remains us that we are in mid winter season, as this occurs twice in each of the hemispheres. In Northen Hemisphere it occurs in December, often known as ” December Solstice” and in Southeren Hemisphere it occurs in June i.e., Summer Solstice, Often known as “June Solstice”.

Google has designed the animated doodles to this celestial moment. Northern Hemisphere celebrates Winter solstice, when the day light is shorted. Whereas , in  Southeren Hemisphere, when the daylight lasts longer then it is Summer Solstice

The dark and long nights of the winter are about to get a little bit brighter. Even though the coldest days of winter are still on, the winter Solstice is nature’s way of reminds us that even though instead of darkness, indeed there is  light.
