Google honoured and respected the social worker and activitist Baba Amte on his 104th birth anniversary with a beautiful Google Doodle.
Baba Amte (26-12-1914 to 9-2-2008) : Murlidhar Devidas Amte, most popularly known as Baba Amte is known for his social service and social activites in India.He was born in Hinganghat,Wardha district, Maharashta,British India. His father was a British government officer who used to work for Administration and revenue departments. He studied B.A.LLB.He was nick named Baba, just because his parents used to call him with that name. He worked for empowerment and rehabiliation of the people suffering from Leprosy.He died in Anandwan.
Amte and his wife has started the organization for Leprosy patients in 1950 at Anandwan.This work was started as an Arogya.
Baba Amte recieved many awards including the prestigious awards in India like Padma Vibhushan,the Gandhi Peace Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award,the Jamnalal Bajaj Award, Dr. Ambedkar International Award,Templeton Prize.
